Obituary of George J. Hochdoerfer

George Hochdoerfer Vestal - George Hochdoerfer, 87, of Vestal, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was the husband of Joyce Hochdoerfer. They shared 58 years of marriage together. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to George and Gertrude Hochdoerfer and was the oldest of four children. He was a Manager at IBM and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of the Korean War as a Tank Instructor. He enjoyed fishing on his raft on the local lakes and rivers and traveling with his sisters for their yearly get together. He is remembered for being a caring father, husband and grandfather "Papa", and for his sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude, and brothers-in-law, Bud Walla and Tony Sansonetti. He is survived by his wife Joyce, two sons, Glenn (Deanna) and Michael (Juanita) and grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle and Elaina, siblings, Helen Walla, Joe (Jeannie) Hochdoerfer, Mary Sansonetti and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Valley View Alliance Church, 11 Foster Rd. Vestal, for visitation followed by a service at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of George Hochdoerfer can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
