Obituary of Nancy A Chantry

Fremont, California - Nancy Ann Chantry passed away on September 3, 2018 from complications relating to Parkinson's Disease. Nancy was born December 31, 1935 in Maine, New York, the daughter of Harriette Prentice and Howard Gelatt. She graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1953, then attended Wilson Memorial Nursing School where she graduated as a registered nurse in the Class of 1957. In 1988, Nancy went on to receive her Masters Degree in Health Services Administration from The New School for Social Research. Nancy worked as a registered nurse in many capacities, including at Wilson Memorial Hospital and at Vestal Nursing Home. For the last 20+ years of her career, she worked as a school-nurse teacher, the majority of which was at Chenango Valley Central Schools, where she retired in 1998. Nancy was an active member of the Union Center Christian Church where one of her greatest joys was working in the baby nursery. Nancy also loved spending summers on the St. Lawrence River, in Clayton, NY, a yearly gathering spot for many of her siblings, children, nieces, nephews and friends. Nancy was predeceased by her son, John Elton Chantry Jr. and is survived by her other four children, Patrice Prentice, Dan Shank, Elaine Hahn and Thomas R. Chantry, by her grandchildren, Thomas L. Chantry, John Chantry III, Evan Hahn and Jeremy Hahn, and by her six brothers and sisters, Robert Gelatt, Marilyn Tomasky, Susanne Harris, James Gelatt, Robert Hultslander, and Paul Hultslander. Memorial services will be held at 10 o'clock on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Coleman Daniels Funeral Home, LLC., 300 E. Main Street, Endicott, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's honor may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
