Obituary of Ida M. Shearer

Apalachin - Ida M Shearer, 97, of Apalachin, went to be with the lord peacefully with her family surrounding her Monday December 24, 2018 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents John and Angela Regazzi, Husband John Shearer, Son Thomas Shearer, Grandson Ronald Erat Jr, Granddaughter Lisa Shearer, 2 Sisters and Brother-in-laws Mary and Joe Dezzutti, and Vicki and George Kingston. She is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-Law Bonnie and Ron Erat , Son and Daughter-in-law Marty and Pam Shearer, Daughter-in-Law Sandra Shearer. Her Grandchildren Sharon (Tony) Olzewski, Connie (Todd) Kopalek, Kelly (Josh) Wolff, Danny (Tara) Erat, Jessica (Neil) Dubey, Tim Shearer, Shelly Hyde, Lynn Shearer, Wendy Perestam, Chris Shearer, Adam Shearer. 22 Great grandchildren. Special Cousin Jenny O'Hare. Ida was born in Auburn, NY on November 20,1921. She was the matriarch of her family, along with her husband John. They were married in 1941 just before John was called up for the Army Air Corp. They settled in Endicott, NY with their 3 children. In 1965 with the help of family and friends they built and owned the Apalachin Golf Course. Building many friendships along the way, Ida (known as Nonna to all) was always dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for whatever their needs were. In her spare time she enjoyed her painting meetings and became an amazing artist. There will be a Bright Star in the heavens now as she shines down on all that knew her. Her family would like to thank Kay and Alice from Hospice for the special care of Ida. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Friday at 2PM at Blessed Trinity Parish at St Margaret Marys Church, Pennsylvania Ave. Apalachin. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Church Friday from 12PM until servicetime at 2. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the John Shearer Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o of the Apalachin Golf Course, South Apalachin Rd., Apalachin, NY 13732.
