Obituary of Marion Alice Sayre

Lincolnton, NC - Marion Alice Sayre, 94, of Lincolnton, NC, formerly of Homosassa, FL and Union Center, NY peacefully went to be with her Lord and joined her loving husband of 62 years, Charles Thomas Sayre in Heaven on January 25, 2019. Marion was born on November 17, 1924 in Endicott, NY the daughter of the late Guy & Helen Edson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sayre was predeceased by her husband, Charles Sayre; brother, William and Robert Edson; sister Jean Smithka; and granddaughters, Tracy and Darlene Sayre. Marion was a long-time member of Union Center Christian Church where she was involved in the AWANA youth program. Marion and her husband were founding members of the Grace Bible Church of Homosassa, FL. Marion was a loving Christian mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She was a hard-working mother raising three children and was very involved with her grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. She thoroughly enjoyed many adventurous travels in her lifetime. She was a talented artist and enjoyed doing crafts for many years. Marion was remembered for being a terrific family cake maker. Mrs. Sayre is survived by her daughter, Janice Sarvey of Lincolnton, NC; sons, Ronald (Gail) Sayre of Equinunk, PA, and Thomas (Nancy) Sayre of Owego, NY; grandchildren, Lee Sayre, Charles Sayre, Jeremy Sayre, Bruce Sundgren, Christopher Sayre, and Ashley Sayre; great grandchildren, Greyson Sundgren, Michael and Easton Sayre, Chaz and Caroline Sayre, and Summer Sayre. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Lincolnton Hospice Organization for their loving care and compassion during Mother's illness. A Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
