Obituary of Mary E. Oxendale

Oxendale Mary E. (Betty) Oxendale of Endicott Mary E. (Betty) Oxendale, 88, of Endicott, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Vestal Nursing Center. She is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Beatrice Jones; her husband, George Oxendale; and two brothers, Robert and Ivor Jones. Betty is survived by her children, three daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and James McManus, Nancy Chapman Roth, and Patti Sisolak; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer (Joseph) Savelli, Jason (Jeanne) McManus, William Chapman, Kevin (Shannon) Chapman, and Michael Sisolak; five great-grandchildren, Jordan McManus, Jeremy McManus, Tyler Chapman, Kaitlynn Chapman, and Kaden Savelli; one brother, The Rev. Raymond (Phyllis) Jones; two nieces, Judy Grosso and Pam (Gary) Griffis; two nephews, Raymond (Tara) Jones and Davis (Lisa) Jones. Betty's special friends, Gloria (Carl) Adams, Dorothy Treaster, and Doris Lobdell. Betty was a former employee of F.W. Woolworth and Burt's Department Store when both were located on Washington Avenue in Endicott. Betty would often be seen taking the bus to the Mall to get her hair done or to just pass the time, usually ending up at Arby's for a fish sandwich and a cup of coffee. She will long be remembered and missed by many friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Vestal Nursing Center for taking good care of Betty during the last several months of declining health. At Betty's request, there will be no service or calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.
