Obituary of Robert J Lang
Warren Center - Robert John Lang Jr, 79, died on Friday, July 5, 2019, at his home on Lake O' Meadows, having cheated death by 15 years beyond his cardiac prognosis by sheer will and the grace of God.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Sylvia (Basile) Lang; daughters Marcella (Lang) and her husband Michael Rogers of Middlesex, PA and Jessica Lang of Carefree, AZ; grandchildren, Sedona, Brylee and Colton Rogers; sister Carol (Willems) and her husband Jack Zach of Albany, WI and their children Craig, Kenneth and Adrienne and many other family and close friends.
Born and raised in Babylon, New York, the son of Angeline (Fischetti) and Robert John Lang Sr, he joined the US Army after high school and then attended Hofstra University earning an AST in Electrical Engineering. His family affectionately referred to him as the Rocket Scientist for his proud work on the Lunar Landing Module that went to the moon in 1960s. A subsequent career in real estate lead him to the Arizona desert for many years before returning East to be nearer to grandkids. The lakehouse that he built was his life's work and a fitting place for his final days where he became an avid bird watcher and discovered a passion for painting and a love of art.
'Bob' is remembered by many as a caring and gregarious Prayer Warrior that would literally give you the shoes off his feet and the shirt off his back. He was an evangelist at heart, he delivered Bibles on a mission to Germany, prayed in the streets with strangers, served as a Deacon in his church and worked as a Prison Chaplain for many years. His faith and his testimony have touched many, he never went anywhere without sharing the Gospel or reaching out to meet the physical and spiritual needs of others and he kept acquaintances in his thoughts and prayers long after parting.
All are welcome to attend a memorial service in his honor at Warren Center Baptist Church, 883 Coburn Hill Rd (18851) on August 4, 2019, at 2:30 pm.
