Joe W. Simonin of Endicott Joe W. Simonin, 88, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 17, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents, Lois and Walter and two brothers, Don and Robert. Joe was born in Wayne, NE on October 4, 1921 and was the oldest of five children. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Myrtle (Down) Simonin; two sisters, Lois Shultheris, Wayne, NE and Carol (Larry) Watson, Persia, IA; a son, Howard (Martha) Simonin, Holland Patent, NY; daughters, JoAnn (Tracy) Smith, Denver, CO, Linda (Bill) Kissel, Sauquoit, NY and Rev. Mary Jean Simonin, Apalachin, NY; ten grandchildren, Paul and Mark Simonin, Audra, Aaron and Jenna Smith, Colleen (Chris) Martin, Sheila, Noelle, Nancy and Martha Kissel; and four great grandchildren, Faith, Abigail, Luke and Jacob Martin. Joe loved and cherished his family and we loved him. He was industrial arts teacher for 29 years and taught in the Boonville and Union Endicott School Districts. He loved working with wood and even built his own house in Boonville, NY. Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to be outside enjoying God's amazing creation. Joe was an active member of Central United Methodist Church. Over the years, he was an usher, trustee, and on the administrative council. He actively participated in various Bible studies. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23 from 11am-1pm in the lounge of Central United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary with Rev. Doug Clark and Pastor Tom Hester officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850 or Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 17 Nanticoke Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760. We would like to especially thank Linda, Mary and Sharon of Lourdes Hospice and Colleen, our dear neighbor for their exceptional loving care and support for Joe and our family. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott.
