Obituary of John R. Galli

John R. Galli, 77, of Apalachin, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents John J. and Rose Galli. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Karen Galli, and his three children, whom loved him dearly, Lois (Andy) Blight, John (Liana) Galli and Christopher (Jesse) Galli. He also has five grandchildren, whom affectionately called him BaBa, Emily, Kristen, and Jacqueline Blight and Jonathan and William Galli. Along with his immediate family, he is also survived by his sister AnnMarie (Michael) Kolcharno, along with his nephews and niece, Richard (Maria) Fanucci, Corey Kolcharno, and Kelly (Paul) Pozinak and their children Isabella Fanucci, Jenna and Erik Miller, Lila and Jake Kolcharno. He also is survived by his Uncle Sonny (Betty) Touch, MaryAnn Crugnale, Joe Crugnale and many cousins. Family was a priority to him and he always put them first. John received his Bachelor's of Science in Accounting and his MBA from the University of Scranton. He served in the Army Reserves. For 35 years he was employed by Endicott- Johnson Shoes Corporation. Upon his retirement as Vice-President of International Sourcing, he joined General Shoes Corporation where he proudly worked until his death. John left a footprint in all whom he worked with. John was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He attended mass daily, even when traveling abroad. He would seek out a local church to attend. He was a faithful man, instilling his faith and values in his family, as well as quietly touching others by his kind, generous spirit. John was actively involved in youth soccer, holding positions in Vestal Youth Soccer Association, a founding member of FC Broome Premier travel club, and lastly, the Vice President of New York State West Soccer association, a position he held for many years. He also was a member of Vestal Dollars for Scholars, and on the board of the Boys and Girls Club. A private Funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal, New York, followed by a burial at Riverhurst Cemetery in Endwell, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the food pantry at Our Lady of Sorrows.
