Obituary of Clara J Lewis

Our beloved mother, Clara J. Knapp Lewis, 91, of Maine, NY, born March 25, 1929, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb 20, 2021. She was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth D. Lewis, daughter Patricia J. Lewis, mother Clara B. Knapp, father John C. Knapp, and brothers Jack Knapp and Harlie (Bernice) Knapp. She is survived by daughters: Darlene (Al) Quinlan, Kathyann Cunning, Janet (John) Zelesnikar, Judy Lainhart, and Donna Monell; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren (plus two more who will bless our family this year); 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mom was a lover of flowers, gardening, music and books. She was a faithful member of her church and diligently worked to organize the church library. Her greatest joy was her family. She is remembered fondly by her daughters for her four-tiered birthday cakes, lovely handmade dresses, the best potato salad, and her famous Thanksgiving Stuffing recipe, which has now been handed down and enjoyed by multiple generations. She was a woman who exemplified the essence of Proverbs 31: 28-30: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." Throughout her life, our Mom exhibited extraordinary grace, strength, and a steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff of Ideal Senior Living Center for their attentive and compassionate care. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, arrangements by Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St.,Endicott, NY. A private memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.
