Obituary of Mark J Murphy

Mark J. Murphy, 75, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on March 26 with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents, Mark Joseph and Mary Murphy, brother Robert Murphy and brother-in-law William Morley. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnn, daughters Alison (Keith) Casterline of Apalachin, Megan (Ryan) Farmer of Endicott and Laura (Evan) Soard of Steamboat Springs, CO; his five granddaughters Emma and Kayla Casterline, Alaina and Leah Farmer, and Sydney Soard; his sisters Ann Marie Morley of Youngstown, OH, Mary Agnes (Salvatore) Fauci of Endwell and Sister Robert Mary Murphy of Scranton, PA and many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, Mark was a graduate of Laurel Hill Academy. He moved to Endicott and worked for many years as a real property assessor and served his community on several commissions and boards. Affectionately known as Murph, Mark was proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends and was always happy to soak up the sun at the beach or Keuka Lake. He loved playing golf and supporting his daughters and granddaughters' sports and activities and you could usually find him with a camera in hand. Mark often liked to check in on his friends at the Olde Friars Inn. He never met a stranger and will be missed by the many people who crossed his path. The Murphys will receive family and friends from 5-7 Wednesday, March 31 at Coleman and Daniel's in Endicott. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 1 at 11 at Union Center Christian Church, 950 Boswell Hill Road in Endicott.
