Obituary of Joyce W Olmstead

Joyce Warner Olmstead of Vestal, NY passed away at her home May 27, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born August 25, 1933, she lived her entire life in Vestal. Joyce was predeceased by her high school sweetheart, Jim, to whom she was married for 63 years, and her granddaughter, Corey C. Haddon. She is survived by her daughters; Pam (Ray) Lia of Auburn, NY, Diane (Chap) Haddon of Southport, NC, Jackie (Bill) Bayliff of Haymarket, VA, Linda (Mike) Macey of Vestal, NY, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was a 1951 graduate of Vestal Central High School. She was a long-time employee of the Vestal Central School District. Upon retirement, she and Jim began the second chapter of their life buying and selling antiques and collectibles. They travelled extensively and enjoyed many world cruises with friends. Joyce loved gardening, baking, reading and volunteering at the Hearth at Castle Gardens calling Bingo at which she often shared her baked treats. Joyce's family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Joyce's caregivers, Kim Aldrich and Sue Moore for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Corey C. Haddon Art Scholarship Fund c/o Trinity United Methodist Church 209 E. Nash St. Southport, NC 28461 or Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St. Vestal, NY 13850 in memory of Joyce. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
