Obituary of Otto L. Root

Otto Root, 82 of Vestal, NY passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 after an extended illness with cancer and his heart. He was predeceased by his brothers, Daryl and Charles and a sister Phyllis. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dennise. His children, daughter, Wahneta (Dennis)Follis, son Charles (Shannon) Root, Michael Root, Esther Root all of Fl. Everett (Marilyn) Root of Binghamton, son, Dan Root of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his wife's children, daughter, Jennifer Hantsch (Scott) and son, Kevin (Nichole) Hantsch who he helped raise from their young years. Kevin's children, Gavin, Lucas and Brooke, grandchildren he loved watching grow up from babies. He said that they brought him so much joy. He is also survived by a sister Betty Shea of Fl. Also, many more grandchildren and great grandchildren and very extra special Nieces and Nephew(s). He was also blessed with some extra special people and friends he adored. Otto retired from the Vestal Central School District as a bus mechanic in 2004. He loved fishing and hunting with family and friends. He had special fishing times with his buddy Billy, who he had a very special friendship with and missed so dearly after his fatal accident. A very special thank you to the staff at Mercy House for his care in his last few days. Funeral services will be at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC., 765 Main St. in Vestal, NY on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Family and friends are invited to call from 11:00am to the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Nanticoke Valley Cemetery at a later date.
