Obituary of Ezra Avery

Ezra Andrew Avery, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. He passed away at Lourdes Hospital. He is predeceased by his wife Anna Avery who passed in July, 2020. He is survived by his sister, Sylvia Lawton and sister-in-law, Barbara Avery, along with several nieces and nephews. Ezra was a long-time member of the West Endicott Baptist Church where he was the choir director for many years. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957. He worked for UPS where he was a teamster member for 19 years. His passions were playing his guitar, from Johnny Cash to gospel songs and hymns for family, church, nursing homes and loved ones. His other passions were worshipping God, helping his family and playing golf. The family would like to thank nephews Elvin Coney, Bill Puckey and Daniel Quick for their commitment during his stay in the hospital. Funeral Services will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC at 300 East Main Street, Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends on Monday June 28th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon with the funeral service at Noon. Nephew Bill Puckey and Pastor Julian Weil will officiate at the services. Burial with military honors will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those wishing can make a memorial contribution to the West Endicott Baptist Church, 515 West Wendell St., Endicott, NY 13760.
