Obituary of Roberta A Ferrara

Roberta "Bobbye" Ferrara (Weiss), beloved wife of Dr. Angelo Ferrara, passed away peacefully at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, on Thursday June 24, 2021, at the age of 85 after a brief illness resulting from complications of COPD. Bobbye was the proud mother of son John (predeceased) and surviving daughters Bonnie (Dave) Richardson and Dr. Lori (Dr. Andrew) Finucan. Loving Nana of Travis (April) Richardson, Adam (Megan) Richardson, Tara Richardson and Luke Finucan (Jessica Kopalek) and Ethan Finucan. Also sadly missed by great-grandson Bennett Richardson and great-granddaughters Noelle and Violet Richardson. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Lorraine Weiss and her sister Irene "Duchess" Conklin (Dennis). Survived by her brother Kenneth (Dorothy) Weiss and sister Patricia Weiss and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children and special friends Shirley Cannon and Francine Finucan. Bobbye was born and raised in the Bronx, NY where she trained in professional dance as a Roxyette, most notably performing at the Roxy Theater. Life changed when she moved to Indiana with her new husband as she helped support him through chiropractic college. Children soon followed and Bobbye became an accomplished cook, gardener, and all-round awesome mom. She was fiercely devoted to her husband and children and never wavered once in her unconditional love for them. Best times included trips with extended family to various vacation sites with Swan Lake being the source of many great stories. She loved entertaining at holidays and especially Thanksgiving. Bobbye and Angelo loved travelling to the Caribbean and Florida where they met many wonderful friends and enjoyed fantastic cuisine. Bobbye became a connoisseur much to the chagrin of some chefs who were challenged by her standards. Spending time with grandchildren became a passion whether it be swimming at home or providing unique experiences such as trips to NYC or Florida. She loved life and all her family. One of her greatest regrets was that she did not get to donate her son's organs after a tragic car accident took his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Connectlife (blood and organ donor network) online at https://www.connectlife.org/donate/financial-contribution or by cheque to Connectlife, 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville NY 14221, or other charity of your choice. A private celebration of her life will follow at a later date.
