Obituary of Terry L. Gustafson

Endicott - Terry Lynn Gustafson, 70, of Endicott, New York passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2021. She fought a brave year-long battle against cancer. Terry was born April 28, 1951 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is predeceased by her parents Stephen (Terry) Tarhay and Ida (Gertrude) Tarhay and sister Linda Lou Tarhay. Terry is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, James (Jim) Gustafson; her children Kelly Gustafson (Michael Wright) of Denver, CO; Steven Gustafson (Noelle) of Buffalo, NY; Amy Hanrahan (Quinn) of Binghamton, NY; her sister, Donna Lydon (John) of Butler, PA; nieces and nephews Lori, Larry and Eddie; and grandchildren that she loved dearly, Cora, Aubrey, Mason, Eirnin, Carter, Fionn and Owen. She is also survived by sister-in-law Carol Clark (Bert), Big Shanty, PA; several special cousins, including Mark Tarhay (Marie); close nieces and nephews and friends. Terry is a graduate of Arnold High School Class of 1969. She graduated from Carlow College in 1973 with a degree in Psychology. She was especially close with her beloved roommate Kathi (Kass) Rogers. Terry met her husband Jim one magical night out dancing. They married May 29, 1976 in Fort Jackson, SC. Terry and Jim had a strong, loving marriage. Terry was a stay at home Mom, and ran a ceramics business from her home for many years while her children were young. As they grew, Terry began working for H&R Block and was an employee there for 25 years. She had many close friends in her job there and they brightened her days. Terry was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was so important to her. She enjoyed spending time with them, baking, and crafting. She loved reading, spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her husband. She was a lover of white chocolate, dark pretzels and burnt hotdogs. Terry had a gentle, kind manner, a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. She listened intently to any story big or small. She will be so missed. The family would like to extend gratitude to the Lourdes Hospice team who made these last few weeks at home, and in comfort possible. Services will be held Saturday July 24, 2021 at 1PM from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 300 East Main St., Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday from 11AM until time of service at 1. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
