Obituary of Marguerite C Panko

Marguerite C. Panko of Jupiter, Florida passed away peacefully on August 21, 2021 at the age of 99. She was the only child of William J. and Martha C. O'Mara, of Binghamton, New York, also deceased. She was predeceased by Harry Panko, her beloved husband of 23 years, and by her son, H. William Panko. She is survived by her son, Richard (Kathleen) Panko; her daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Yurecka; and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Panko. She has six Grandchildren (Alicia Legg, Gregory Panko, Jessica Sauer, Eric Yurecka, Maggie Panko, and Christopher Panko); and eight Great Grandchildren (Jaedan Sauer, Jordan Sauer, Matthew Legg, Ashley Legg, Jacob Legg, Genevieve Yurecka, Grace Yurecka, and Gavin Yurecka); also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marguerite always considered herself a "New Yorker", even though she split her time between living in New York, and as a snowbird in Florida. After the passing of her husband, she dedicated herself to raising her family, and finding a career to fulfill the void in her life. She went back to school to further her college education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. She continued to work at Broome Community College, as the Assistant Director of Admissions until her Retirement, almost 40 years later. After Retirement she again found herself having to look for something to take up her time, so she opted to learn how to play Golf. She did very well and enjoyed playing the game immensely, as it afforded her the opportunity to play almost year-round between the two states. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Vestal, New York, and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Jupiter, Florida. She was well liked and fun to be with, as evidenced by the outpouring of sympathy calls and messages from her many friends and acquaintances. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on September 2nd, 2021 at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 465 Clubhouse Road, Vestal, New York. Calling hours and visitation will be held in the Social Hall of the Church from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. Followed by Mass at 12:00 PM. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery, 553 Harry L. Drive, Johnson City, New York immediately following Mass.
