Obituary of Bernice L Warfle

Bernice L. Warfle, 90, of Vestal passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband, Orion J. Warfle; son, Timothy O. Warfle; parents, Richard and Emilie Griswold; and brother, Richard Griswold, Jr. She is survived by her loving children Rose Marie and Kenneth Schlock, Cindy Sherwood and daughter in law, Kimberly Dunham Warfle; her grandchildren, Amy and Daniel Reynolds, Tiffany Nesbit, Rachel Warfle, Patrick and Jamie Sherwood, and Jennifer Sherwood; and her great grandchildren, Kaida, Blake, Owen, Jayce, Skyler, and Summer. She is survived by her sisters, LaVanche Millard, Shirley Schoeberl, Bernita Griswold, Sandra (Clifford) Tuttle, Myrna (Patrick) Thayne. Bernice graduated from Vestal High School in 1950 and shortly after married the love of her life, Orion, and together they raised three children at their home in Vestal Center. Bernice cherished her family, providing them with a strong foundation of love and faith and a steadfast commitment to the importance of family. She hosted countless Sunday and Holiday dinners at her home, where multiple generations would gather to share laughter, stories and pass on tradition. She loved taking care of her flower gardens, reading a good book, and the company of dear friends. Bernice made so many friends along her journey and always took the time to keep those relationships over the years. Her personality and straight forward honesty always drew people toward her. Bernice was also a deeply devout person. Her selfless and spiritual commitment could be seen for decades in her dedication to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. Over the years, she served in several positions at her church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and work with the women's group. Bernice deeply loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to reminisce and tell her stories pointing out common traits that existed among family members. We are all better for the time we had Bernice in our lives, and we'll continue to share her legacy of family, devotion, and service to others, but she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends and family at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal, Tuesday March 29th from 11-12 p.m. Funeral Services will be held immediately following at 12 Noon. Burial Services will be held at Vestal Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church.
