Obituary of Christopher Lee Ryan

Christopher Lee Ryan, 87, born December 4, 1934 in Mineola, NY to Christopher M. Ryan of County Tipperary, Ireland and Elizabeth Lee of County Cavan, Ireland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on April 30, 2022. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol A. Ryan and six children; son, Christopher M. (Patricia) Ryan, E. Berne, NY, daughter, Lisa A. Fennell (Gene), St. Augustine, FL, daughter, Maureen E. Cervantes (the late Douglas), S. Farmingdale, NY, son, Patrick J. Ryan, S. Farmingdale, NY, Timothy B. (Paige) Ryan, New Milford, NJ, daughter, Meaghan L. Ryan, Farmingdale, NY, brother, John M. (Karen) Ryan of Wellington, FL and predeceased by brother, Richard F. Ryan, also survived by seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Chris served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1958, then worked 37 ½ years for Nassau County Department of Public Works, starting as a surveyor and retiring as a Civil Engineer. After retiring, he worked as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor at the Family School in Hancock, NY. Chris belonged to the BPOE Elks and Knights of Columbus. He loved volunteer work and loved serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and local hospitals. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Clubhouse Rd., Vestal, on Thursday, May 5, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at St. Vincent de Paul Church or to a charity of one's choice in memory of Chris.
