Obituary of Betty W Carey

Betty W. Carey, 87, of Heart Lake, PA July 4th, 1934 - May 21, 2022, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at her home at Heart Lake. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Allyn (Tiger) and Wendy Carey, Heart Lake, PA, a niece, Nancy Jean, Devens, TX, sister-in-law, Evelyn, Trumansburg, NY, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Bruce in 2008, brother Allyn, Ark, sisters-in-law, Joan and Judy Ark, parents Hugh and Ethelyn, Ark and nephew Danny, TX. She graduated with high honors from Women's Medical College, Philadelphia, as an R.N., was a commercial pilot with ground, fight and instrument instructor ratings, as well as ratings in both single and multiengine airplanes and enjoyed flying as a corporate pilot with her husband and teaching her son to fly on her days off. She lived all her life at Heart Lake, enjoying raising her many boxer dogs and water skiing. In the early years, traveling as far away as Canada putting on water ski shows with her fellow Heart Lakers. In lieu of funeral services, she requested her body be donated back to medical research to further the field she was so passionate about during her training as an R.N. Donations in her name can be made to True Friends Animal Welfare center, Montrose.
