Obituary of Janice V. Vining
Janice Virginia (Miles) Vining, 84, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a 12 year cancer survivor, passed away on June 7, 2022. Congestive heart failure has brought grief to us but UNENDING joy to her as she is now FOREVER with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul said "Absent from the body, present with the Lord" 2 Cor. 5:8 The daughter of Idabel N. and W.Herbert Miles, she was a lifelong resident of Vestal, N.Y. She is survived by her loving husband Durland, children, Mark Vining, Owego, N.Y., Dr. Robert (Carryl) Vining, Davenport, Iowa, Mrs. Sharon Matias, Johnson City, N.Y., grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Also surviving, her brother Richard Miles of Indian Trails N. C., her niece Cindy (Randy) Rudock Newark Valley, N.Y., her nephews Lavern (Chris) Miles, Owego, N.Y. and Shawn (Georgia) Miles, N.C. She graduated from Vestal High School and Ridley Lowell School of Business. Employed by IBM, and later the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome. She was skilled in a number of crafts such as sewing, rug hooking, and tatting. Janice was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Vestal, N.Y. for over 60 years, and more recently the Community Independent Bible Church of Little Meadows, P.A. She served joyfully on short term mission trips to Alaska, Canada, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Missouri, Peru, Russia and Ukraine. Our thanks to the Lourdes hospice team who made it possible to keep her in the home where she lived the last 60 years, and to Mrs. Bonnie Lillie who helped the family understand the process of making Janice's final days as comfortable as possible. Thanks also to Mercy House in Endicott who opened their door when at home care was no longer feasible. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held the 29th of June at 11 A.M. at the South Apalachin Baptist Church. Pastor Justin Canfield and Pastor Dan Crane will conduct the service.
