Obituary of Thomas S. Evanek

Thomas S. Evanek, 80, passed away at Wilson Hospital on October 12, 2022 due to heart complications. He was predeceased by grandson Nathan Cotton, parents John and Margaret Evanek and mother-in-law and father-in-law Harry and Edna Moore. Survived by wife of 58 years Juanita (Moore), the love of his life, sons Damon Evanek (Apalachin), Kevin (Brenda) Evanek (Owego), daughter Denise (David) Magee (Idaho); grandchildren Eryn (Brad) Mattox, Ryan Cotton, Anna Evanek, Jacob Evanek; brothers Roger Evanek (Endicott), David (Marge) Evanek (Barton), sister Sherry Evanek (Mike Parr) (Binghamton), and several nieces and nephews. He was a kind and gentle soul, excellent husband, father and grandfather. He left behind many wonderful memories. He loved to fish, hunt, trap and enjoy anything outdoors. A few of his favorite things were spaghetti, Nirchi's pizza and especially the beauty of Cannonsville Reservoir. Health slowed him down but he overcame it all for everything he loved. He graduated from Union-Endicott high school in 1960. At a young age, he bartended at the Vestal Inn. He worked as a machinist for many years at several locations and retired from Ramp Industries. Funeral services will be held October 18th at 12pm at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends and family from 11am – 12pm prior to the service. Graveside service will follow at Vestal Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Apalachin Fire Department.
