Obituary of Margaret Herciga

Lord grant eternal rest to our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, Margaret, who passed away on 11/18/22 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband, William, who passed away in May, 2022, parents, Philip and Martha Hrynchuk, brother, Fred Hrynchuk, and her great granddaughter, Celia. She is survived by her daughters, Lise (Ted) and Kristen (Keith), her grandchildren, Quinn (Kyle), Brett, Dylan (Kaylea) and Nick, three great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law Helen Darpino and Lillian Fotiou. She was the loving sister of Leda Adams. Margaret, fondly known as "Margie" to many, was a social butterfly who always took the opportunity to speak to anyone she encountered, and that was what made her adored by so many people. She was kind, loving, and never hesitated to do a little dance in the hallway, even with her walker. She was also well known for her famous banana bread, promising a loaf to car salesmen, painters, doctors, and just about anyone she connected with. She was an animal lover who continuously took in stray cats, providing them a safe haven to rest their head and become spoiled. In her earlier years, Margaret also did volunteer work as a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church and Wilson Hospital while she devoted herself to raising her family with her husband. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Assisted Living, Elizabeth Church Manor, and the medical staff at North Tower 3/Wilson Hospital for their devoted care and compassion during this difficult time. They provided comfort and peace to her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Avenue, Endicott, NY with Rev. Fr. Alexey Karlgut officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM with the funeral immediately following at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to United Methodist Homes Foundation UMH NY Corp, 10 Acre Place, Binghamton, NY 13904 or Sts. Peter & Paul Memorial Fund, 210 Hill Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
