Adeline "Marti" Phillips

Obituary of Adeline "Marti" M. Phillips

Adeline (Marti) Phillips, 73, of Vestal, NY, closed her eyes on May 13, 2023 and opened them to see Jesus as he wiped away her tears. Marti joins her parents, Bob and Adeline Bennett, and brothers Bobby and Bill in heaven. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Stasi) Cochardo and Mandi Phillips; grandchildren, Ciana Catanzaro (Jesse), Dennis, Evan, Ian, Emma, Lynne and Ciara Cochardo, Samantha Gehm (Vern) and Marlee Smith; and great-grandchildren, Isabella Scott and Giovanni Catanzaro, Vernon and Benjamin Gehm. She is also survived by two sisters who adored her, Lynne Atwood and Beth (Mark) Pisani and sister-in-law, Sharon Bennett; nieces Brenda Stevenson, Penny Moody, Kristin Geiger, Elisa Pisani, Jason Orzell and Marissa Freedman as well as her special nephew, Charlie Pisani. Marti worked for many years at Willow Point Nursing Home. After her Parkinson's diagnosis she became a resident there. Her coworkers became her caretakers. We consider them family, especially Ashley Hammond, Tanya Decker, Edna Sands and too many others to list from South 2. They took amazing care of her for six years, especially during Covid isolation. We will remember Marti's quick wit and ability to do impersonations, especially every character in The Wizard of Oz. She had a beautiful singing voice. Marti's legacy will be that she showed us what true faith in Jesus looks like. She loved her Savior with all her heart and never wavered, even when life was so unkind. Her greatest wish was that her family and friends would know her Lord so they could spend eternity together. The family will receive friends at Grace Point Church, 3701 Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850 on Monday, May 22 from 2-4pm, with a service to follow at 4pm. In honor of Marti, visit someone in a nursing home. "I am the Resurrection and the Life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die and whoever lives by believing in me will never die." – John 11:25,26
