Obituary of Patricia E. Nickerson

Patricia (Lynch) Nickerson 3/31/24-6/25/23 Patricia Nickerson, 99, of Vestal, NY passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband James H. Nickerson, son John R. Nickerson, brother John G. Lynch, and grandsons Joseph and Jack. She is survived by her three wonderful sons James (Marilyn) Nickerson, Robert (Robin) Nickerson, Michael (Robin) Nickerson, her grandchildren Kate (James) McKay, Patrick (Maureen) Nickerson, Emily (Elliott) Hockey, great granddaughter Zoey McKay, and great grandson Lincoln Hockey. Also her beautiful nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great- great nephew and niece. Patricia was an avid golfer, bridge player, skier, sailor, bicycle rider, and hiker. She loved good music, reading, flowers and gardening, crossword puzzles, and her many good friends. She was a charter member and active member of the Ridgehaven Ladybugs for over 50 years, as well as the Ridgehaven Garden Club. She was also a member of Binghamton University's Lyceum, and a Patron of the Vestal Historical Society. In 1949, she was the first business women's golf champion at the IBM Country Club in Johnson City. Besides staying active with her social clubs, Pat loved more than anything to spend time with her family. Lovingly known to her family as "Marion the Librarian", she will always be remembered for her quick wit and keen sense of humor. Patricia graduated from Johnson City High School in 1942, attended Syracuse University extension in Endicott, and also completed classes at Harpur College and Binghamton University.
