Obituary of Jan S. Schaller

Jan Steven Schaller, 64, of Vestal, New York, passed away on January 21, 2024. Born on May 8, 1959, in Pottstown, PA, Jan was the beloved son of Buzz and Elin Schaller. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, as well as many special grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Jan attended Vestal High School graduating in 1977. He later went on to have a successful career as an IBM employee for decades. He was very dedicated to his job and made valuable contributions to the company. Outside of work, Jan was a true lover of the outdoors. He found joy in hunting, fishing, working on cars and going for walks in the woods with his dog buddies. Jan had a green thumb and was able to grow beautiful vegetables and a ton of garlic! Jan will be deeply missed by his surviving family members. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Allen and Nadine Schaller from Endicott, NY as well as his sister, Sandy Schaller and wife Angela Lynch, residing on Long Island. Jan also leaves behind his nephews, Peter Schaller and husband Dan Corcoran of Connecticut, Brian Schaller and husband Griffin Bohen-Meissner of California, and niece Anna Schaller and boyfriend Dylan Thorner of Colorado. In memory of Jan, contributions can be made to the CHOW Food Pantry - Council of Churches, 3 Otseningo St. Binghamton, NY 13903. There will be no services at this time. A private memorial service will be held in the spring.
