Obituary of Stephen C. Reed
Stephen C. Reed, 67, of Endwell, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024 in the Binghamton General Palliative Care Unit at Binghamton General Hospital after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 27, 1956 in Endicott, NY to Eugene and Virginia (Huyck) Reed. Steve was a 1974 graduate of Union Endicott High School.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Virginia Reed, brother-in-law Steve Shubiak, grandson Joshua Henrey, mother-in-law Lorriane Roberts and two brothers-in-law Wayne (Butch) and Kenneth Roberts. Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years Donna (Roberts) Reed, 3 daughters; Danielle Miller of Binghamton, Narcissa (Jason) Bickos of Endicott, Lindsey Henrey (Kristopher Parente) of Endwell, and his special son Paul Reed (Sara Tilton), grandchildren Derrick Schriber (Marissa Lee), Damon and Nataya (AKA Punkie) Henrey, Jordan Fleming, Ayden and Anthony Reed, Aiden Bickos, and Aliya Alberti along with 2 great-grandsons-Landon (AKA Frank) & Mason. He is also survived by his sister Debbie Shubiak Knoxville, TN, brother Tom (Tabatha) Reed and their sons Thomas Jr. and Timothy Reed Johnson City and brother Jeffrey Reed (Carol Andrews) Johnson City, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In Steve's early years of employment, he worked at GAF. He was the owner of Cozy Home Insulation and Dry Wall. Steve moved to Texas and was a "roughnecker" in the oil fields, working for Ringo Drilling and Mesa Drilling Co. Finally, after 24 years of employment with Riviera Ridge Apartments in Vestal as their Property Manager Steve retired.
Steve had a great personality and a wicked sense of humor. His hobbies included his love of racing, playing in pool, camping with family and friends, spending time with friends at his garage, and enjoying music. Over the years Steve was able to share his passion for racing with his grandson Damon, with their countless hours in the garage working on their 600 modified race car.
Steve's family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Christian Union Church at 3577 Smith Drive, Endwell, NY, 13760, with a private service to follow officiated by Rev. Arthur Penird. Per Steve's request please dress casual for this occasion.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Kenneth Foxx, Dr. Harris, the staff at UHS, the staff at Susquehanna Rehabilitation and especially the patient and sympathetic staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Binghamton General Hospital.
