Obituary of Jessica Sheftal-Newman

Jessica Florence Sheftal, of Johnson City, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Aprill 20, 2024. She was 40 years old. She was born April 27, 1983 in Johnson City, the daughter of Caroline Burnett Fineout and the late Joseph Fineout. Her sister, Jaimelee Kathleen Fineout predeceased her. Jessie had an associate degree in business and was self-employed. Jessie had a way of making everything around her beautiful. She was a poet and a storyteller. She wrote some of the most amazing letters. Jess made even the simplest activities wonderful and fun. Jessie's greatest gift to the family was her devotion to her family, especially to her mother and three children, Shawn J. Sheftal, Jaimie Lee Sheftal and Tobi (Florence) Sheftal. She spent hours with her aunts and uncles when she was younger. Her aunties, Kathy, Uncle Wayne and Aunt Joan were her favorites. She was known as "screwy Louie" to them affectionately. Jess is survived by her grandmother, Pat Burnett, her husband, Thomas Newman, and her children. Also surviving are cousins, "sisters" and step-children. She had a wonderful nephew named Javeon. There will be no services at this time, but a graveside service in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton will be at a later date with family and friends. She is safely home in the loving arms of Christ where she will wait for the rest of us she left here on earth. She will be deeply missed here on this earth, Her exploits will be told to all who will listen for all time.
