Obituary of Kevin J. Bunnell

Kevin James Bunnell, age 72, passed away on May 12 at Mercy House, Endicott NY. He was born on June 8, 1951. Kevin had a hearty laugh that would brighten up a room. He could make anyone feel special. Either as a boss or a father, he was always encouraging you to do your best. "Do the right thing" was his mantra. Kevin spent his entire working career at IBM. He was a dedicated employee and made many lasting contributions during his time there. After retirement Kevin and Janet were fortunate enough to do some traveling. Kevin's favorite trip was Portugal, especially Lisbon. The next adventure was to the South of France and Barcelona . He was in awe of the history and the castles. So many castles… A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Kevin remained loyal to his team through thick and thin, supporting them through years of disappointment. The last game he saw was right before he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He saw the Phillies win in Philadelphia. A highlight of his life. A few years ago Kevin discovered pickleball. He quickly became a fan favorite. His talents on the court included hitting the ball before it bounced, and fetching the balls. This earned him the fitting nickname of Bowser. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, daughter Chelsea and her husband Jason Donlin and by his favorite and only grandchild , Jackson. Kevin is also survived by his sons Benjamin and Bryan. Kevin was a great dad who never let his kids forget how much they were loved. He lived to see them become independent and successful adults. He was a kid at heart, much to the amusement of his only grandchild Jackson, and to many loved nephews and nieces. Kevin was preceded in death by his father Kenway, mother Naida, and brother Wendell. Kevin graduated from Maine Endwell High School in 1969 and went on to complete his higher education at SUNY Oswego in 1975. At the family's request, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: *PanCan.org. *Mercy House , Endicott Ny
