Obituary of Melissa L. Gibson

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Melissa Gibson on August 22. She is survived by her partner & husband of 41 years, Mike Hamarich, mother Gloria Mclallen, sisters Madelon Gibson, Melanie Gibson, Mim Hunter, sister-in-law Michelle Jeavons, brothers Mike Gibson and Marly Gibson, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Gerald "Shine" Gibson, step father Dennis Mclallen, Mike and Barbara Hamarich and great nephew Magwinn Emmick. She graduated from Vestal High School. Melissa, fondly known as "Lissa" in her high school years, had big beautiful blue eyes that always sparkled, her smile was infectious and she enjoyed life. Melissa worked for IBM Endicott for 33 years and retired from Lockheed Martin. Melissa and Mike spent many years raising and showing horses, met many people, made many friends. She always said it was the best time of her life when she was showing the horses. She also had a passion for gardening creating a beautiful flower bed, soap making, and antiquing, spending many weekends exploring antique shops with family and friends accumulating "collections." Melissa had a big heart and was an animal lover rescuing many dogs and cats through the years. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Mercy House of the Southern Tier where she spent her last days in peace with family and friends under the care of a wonderful staff. Our families would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Mercy House for their unmatched care and support. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday Sept. 21ST from 1pm-4pm at Nuemann Center in Choconut, Pa.
