Obituary of Robert O. Silvernail

Robert O. Silvernail of Endicott Robert O. Silvernail, 90, of Endicott, went into our Heavenly Father's arms on Sunday, February 28, 2010, with his family around him. He was born February 9, 1920. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred (Willet) Silvernail and Grace (Jones) Silvernail; his brother, Darrel Silvernail, TX; two sisters, Marion Miller, Binghamton and Eleanor Campfield, FL; and a great-grandson, Zachary Moore, FL. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Erma (Happy) Silvernail of Endicott; brothers, Lawson Silvernail and his wife, Cleo, CA, Willet (Bill) Silvernail and his wife, Carol, Toccoa Falls, GA; a sister, Thelma Telep and her husband, Paul, Boca Raton, FL; his children, Sandra Goeckel and her husband, Garry, Arlington, TX, Terry Silvernail and his wife, Ann of Endicott, NY, Nancy Kenhart and her husband, Jerry, Vestal, NY; grandchildren, Robert Dean Moore and his wife, Lynn, FL, Terry Moore and his wife, Doris, TX, Diane (Moore) Corn and her husband, Michael, TX, Bridget (Silvernail) Cristelli, Ithaca, NY, Michele (Dyer) Darling, Endicott, NY, Brent Dyer, Endicott, Erin (Silvernail) McLear and her husband, Josh, Massena, NY; great-grandchildren, Joshua Shirling, NC, Nicole Moore, FL, Ryan Moore, FL, Carissa Chapura, Endicott, NY, Ashley Cristelli, Ithaca, NY, Brendan Dyer, Endicott, NY, Brittany Corn, TX, Sarah Moore, FL, Madison Darling, Endicott, NY, Caleb Moore, TX; great-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sativa and Colon Sullivan, FL; also several nieces and nephews. Bob was the owner of Tip Top Collision on Rt. 26 N. Endicott for many years. He retired in 1982. Bob loved his family very much and loved to be around them. In his younger years, he loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Vestal. He was a member of the Order of the Odd Fellows and the Order of Red Men and Carnation Rebekah Lodge. Bob served with the US Army in 1943 in the Southern Philippines GO 33 WD 45 Staff Sergeant 233rd Port Company and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Service medal, the Good Conduct medal, a Philippines Liberation ribbon, a WWII Victory medal, and received an Honorable Discharge. The family wishes to extend a large thank you to all Bob's doctors, nurses, and aides from Binghamton General Hospital and Ideal Nursing Home where he spent the last 5 months of his life. The staff at the nursing home took exceptional care of Bob and we appreciate that very much. The funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. David Parsons, pastor of Bob's church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
