Obituary of Gail L. Clayton

It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Gail Lea Clayton of Hillcrest, NY, at the age of 81, on Monday 12-9-2024 at UHS Wilson Medical Center Johnson City, NY, surrounded by family. She was a woman of immense compassion and unconditional love. She dedicated her life to taking care of her children, grandchildren, and family. She was born on 9-15-1943 in Binghamton, NY.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, Robert Clayton; children Graham Hall (Lindsey Conrad), Scott Hall, Nicki Guilfoyle (Robert Guilfoyle); grandchildren Aliece Tanzini (Ralph Tanzini), Chelsey Hall, Logan Hall, Keenan Hall, Brynn Hall, Seth Hall, Ryan Guilfoyle, Kaylea Guilfoyle; brother Gary Sluznis; great grandchildren Kayla and Joseph Tanzini, Brayden, Maddie, Wyatt; niece, Lori Reisig, nephews Joe Wart, Chris "Twink" Jones , Craig Cotton; sister in law Maryanne Jones; longtime friend Joyce Higgins; the children she embraced Barbara Lutz (Chuck Lutz), Mimi Morgan (Joe Morgan), Ann Affholder; grandchildren Mark, Katie, Mary, Louise, Cecillia, and Julia.

Gail is predeceased by her parents Francis and Helen Sluznis; first husband Gary Hall; sister Lynn Cotton; first mother-in-law Viola Hall; niece Tina Korell and embraced child Michael Clayton.

Gail enjoyed her time with family at Melody Lake cottage and Seneca Lake. She loved to travel extensively with her husband, Bob, especially to Myrtle Beach, SC. Gail cherished her time with family on the back deck with a nice glass of wine. She loved listening to music with one of her favorites being Billy Joel. She had a unique craftiness and contagious smile. She was a great wife married to a wonderful man who adored her and was an even better mother. She is sitting on a beach with her toes in the ocean, sunbathing with her sister, Lynn, and their tanning lotion (baby oil). Gail will be deeply missed by all and remembered forever.

A celebration of life will be held on 12-28-2024 at My Uncles Place located at 120 E Service Rd, Binghamton, NY 13901 from 1:00-4:00pm.
