Deborah "Debbie" Simonik was a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly at UHS Wilson Hospital on Monday, December 9th, 2024.
Debbie was born in Binghamton, New York on May 26, 1957. She attended Seton Catholic High School in Endicott, New York and graduated in 1974. She earned an Associate's Degree in Court Reporting and a Bachelor's Degree in Technology Management from the State University of New York at Alfred, graduating magna cum laude with each. She pursued her love of libraries, books and research by earning a Master of Library Science from Drexel University, graduating summa cum laude. Debbie held several jobs and titles, including Lourde's Hospital, The United States Post Office, Ideal Senior Living Center, Broome County Highway Department, Endwell Rug, State of New York Unified Court System (Tioga County Family Court) and most recently used her master's degree as a librarian at the University of Scranton, Jacksonville University and Bousquet Holstein Law Firm. She made great friends that became family everywhere she worked, and she revered each of them. Debbie enjoyed nothing more than to spend the day or a weekend on one of the finger lakes at a winery with friends and family. She loved touring historical houses in Owego, visiting Frank Lloyd Wright buildings, museums, shopping, attending concerts of artists new and old and fine dining. When Debbie had her first child, Christiane, she dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother. She was an excellent gift giver, vacation planner, never missed a special date, and always knew the right thing to say.
Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children, Christiane Chanitz (Kris), Ian Troiani (Claire), Joe Troiani (Sandy), her grandson, George, her ex-husband and friend, Chuck Troiani, her cousins, nieces and nephew. She is joined in rest by her father, Bob Simonik and her brother, Dave Simonik along with many other loved ones throughout her life. With family and other bonds formed from the heart, Debbie was cherished deeply by many.
