Obituary of James D. Tregaskis

James D. "Jim" Tregaskis, 81, of Endicott passed away on January 11, 2025, after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Joanne; his parents William and Ada Tregaskis; and his brother and sister-in-law, William and Evelyn Tregaskis. Jim worked for IBM Endicott, where he was a Quality Engineer and Manager. After his retirement from IBM, he founded Quality Management Resources, working to help companies by auditing their quality and manufacturing processes in order to obtain their ISO certifications. He was an active member of the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church and the local chapter of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). A lover of both technology and trains, Jim also was active in his support of Techworks! in Binghamton and the Unadilla Valley Railway Society and Museum, the latter of which housed a train display he had created with his grandson. Jim is survived by his daughter Susan (Keith) Hughes; the light of his life his grandson Collin (Ella) Hughes; and his sister-in-law Ruth (Don) Jordan, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Hilltop Retirement Center, Wilson Memorial Hospital and James G. Johston Nursing Home for their tremendous care over these past few months. A memorial service honoring Jim's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, at Nimmonsburg UMC, 918 Upper Front Street, Binghamton, with Rev. Harold Wheat officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, United Methodist Homes Foundation, or TechWorks! in Binghamton.
