Obituary of Marilyn Jean Jones

Marilyn Jean Jones passed away on January 20, 2025 at Absolut Nursing Home in Endicott NY. Marilyn was born on September 10, 1935 in Endicott, New York to parents George O. Card and Anna E. Card. Among her happiest years were those spent on the family dairy farm in Apalachin with her 6 brothers and sisters. Marilyn met Thomas R. Jones (surviving), the love of her life, in 1953. They were married 70 years in 2024. Her three daughters Sharon, Kathie and Nancy (who survive her) were the light of her life. This was only magnified by the arrival of 7 grandchildren and eventually 6 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Mom loved animals and especially dogs. She successfully raised several litters of poodles and went on to adore three white German Shepherds, all named Shane to help soothe the loss of each one. Mom has been cared for her with love and affection by the incredible staff at Absolut Care. Jim Conklin welcomed our family on May 19, 2019. Nicole and Lisa have also been with Mom since the beginning. Charge nurse Aniesa and Optum Nurse Sarah Runyon have cared for Mom as if she was their own Mother. Mom wrote a book she researched and labored over for several years "In the Shadow of the Iroquois". Absolut hosted two book signing parties for Mom after the family published the book. Master quilter, seamstress and host of incredible and memorable Christmases and New Year's Eves, she worked tirelessly to make the world the best it could be for her family. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Mom is in a better place now with her parents and siblings Bev, Jacque, George, and brother and sister in law Reese and Shirley Jones. To remember our beloved Mom pet a dog, love an animal, sing a song. Somewhere over the Rainbow was her anthem.
