Obituary of Carolyn J. Brooks

Carolyn J. Wurth (Lane) Brooks of Endicott Carolyn J. Wurth (Lane) Brooks, 88, of Endicott, NY, fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on March 26, 2010. She was predeceased by parents, Henry and Carol Wurth; brothers, Luther and Roland Wurth; and husband, Vernal Lane Jr. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 39 years, Corey R. Brooks; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Howard Gibson, Vestal, Christi and Mark DeLap, Vestal; son, David, PA; stepchildren, Beverly Brooks, Rochester, Ray Brooks, Johnson City, Barbara Poe, Binghamton; also one sister, Rosalind Hiney, Endicott; brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Alyce Wurth; sister-in-law, Joyce Wurth; brother-in-law, Lynn Brooks; many nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Dottie Coleman. A member of Union Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, Carolyn served as deacon, elder and member of the choir. She was also a volunteer with the Meals-on-Wheels program for 25 years. Carolyn was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her nine grandchildren, Darren, Joei, Jessica, Dannielle, Kari, Ryan, Colin, Liz and Emily were so dear to her, as well as her 11 great-grandchildren. She was the heart of her blended family, a kind and gentle soul, and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Ideal Nursing Home Rose Court, and most especially her caregiver, Tammy. A celebration of Carolyn's life will be held on Saturday, April 3rd, 2:00 p.m., at the Union Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Main St., Endicott, with the Rev. Pat Raube officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Carolyn's name to the Deacon's Fund of Union Presbyterian Church or Meals-on-Wheels of Western Broome.
