George Phillip Merrin of Vestal George Phillip Merrin, 82, of Vestal went to be with the Lord Thursday morning April 15, 2010 at his home. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen Brink; son, Frederick Merrin; his parents; brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Merrin of Vestal; grandchildren, Candace Lucas, Sheila Pugh, Barbara Cunningham, Cheyenne Hanyon, Aleesa Miller; several great and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Merrin of Vestal; sister, Nancy Merrin of Ocala Fla; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. A member of the VFW of Vestal Center, and American Legion Post #89 Vestal. A member of Masonic Lodge Unity Daylight #1146,Vestal where he is a 32nd degree member. He was Santa Claus for the Vestal Center Volunteer Fire Dept, Post #89 American Legion and the Redmens Lodge in Vestal Center for many years. He was also a retired employee of the Vestal Central School District serving as a Bus Driver. A private service will be held at the family's convenience. Contributions may be made in his memory to the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford, NY 13830. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc. 765 Main St, Vestal.
