Obituary of Joan L Wilcox
Joan L. Wilcox of Vestal
Joan L. Wilcox, of Vestal, died on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at her home in Vestal, NY, after a long illness. With her at the time of her death were her cousins, June DiRado, Gail Jones, and Deanne DiRado. She was born in South Gibson, PA on September 19, 1932. She graduated from the Mansfield State Teachers College, Mansfield, PA, in 1954. She served as a music and elementary school teacher in Levittown, PA and Vestal, NY for 38 years. The benefits of her love and labors were abundantly bestowed on her family and many friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Endicott, NY; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the daughter of Frank A. and Gertrude M. Wilcox, both deceased. She is survived by her adoring brother, Sterling Wilcox and his wife, Gloria of Oakton, VA; her nephew, Seth Wilcox; nieces, Poldi Ann Dell and Susan Holley; and her great-nieces, Janie Lee Dell, Rachel Wilcox; and her great-nephews, Joseph Dell, JT Holley and Tyler Holley, all of Virginia, and who adored their beloved Aunt Jo and will miss her dearly.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Susan Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Gelatt Cemetery, Gelatt, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850.
