Obituary of Agnes Rose Pipher

Agnes Rose Sissenstein Pipher formerly of Vestal Center Agnes Rose Sissenstein Pipher peacefully passed away Friday morning, April 30, 2010. Agnes, the daughter of Michael and Rose Sissenstein, was born on July 30, 1916 and married the love of her life John E. Pipher on January 31, 1939. She is survived by her loving son Dennis, his wife Paulette and three beautiful grandchildren, Tyler, Lauren and Isabelle residing in Greenwich, CT. Agnes is the sister of Michael Sissenstein and his wife Sharon of Berkshire, NY; sister-in-law of Dora Sissenstein, Aunt of David Sissenstein of Endwell, Linda Painter of Seattle, WA, Eileen and Michael Sissenstein of Endicott; sister-in-law of Francis and Virginia Pipher, Aunt of Susan and David Pipher of Vestal and Aunt of Linda Pipher of Vestal. Agnes was predeceased by her husband John, who passed away in 1983, and her brothers David, Robert and Albert Sissenstein. Agnes lived in Endicott and Vestal NY for 80 years of her life. She attended and graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1935. She graduated from the Charles S Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1936 as a registered nurse. Agnes then worked at Ideal Hospital in Endicott, NY. She was a member of the Broome County Office of Civil Defense and a Red Cross Nurse. Agnes was an active member of Vestal Center Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and hooking rugs, was an avid gardener and volunteer of community service. Agnes was a devoted wife and mother who prioritized her family always and cared greatly for her husband and son. Agnes will be sadly missed. May God bless her and keep her as she passed into Heaven at the first light of morning on a glorious spring day! Funeral Services will be held Tuesday May 4 at 1:00 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home Inc. 765 Main St, Vestal. The Rev. Roger Frederick, Pastor of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross in memory of Agnes Pipher.
