Obituary of Bernadette L Murphy

Bernadette L. Murphy of Vestal Bernadette L. Murphy, 78, of Vestal New York, died surrounded by family and friends at Binghamton General Hospital on May 29th, 2010. Born on January 7th, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, Bernadette is predeceased by her husband George J. Murphy of Brooklyn, New York; her parents Michael and Sarah (Hughes) O'Shea; her brothers Donal and John O'Shea; and her sisters, Sister Sarah Michaela, CSJ and Kathleen Lynch. Bernadette is survived by her brother, Gerard O'Shea; sisters-in-law, Madelon (Kavey) O'Shea and Janice O'Shea; daughters, Sarah Ellen Murphy-Berliner, Siobhan Duggan and Erin Kalsky; sons-in-law William Berliner, Jack Duggan and Stanley Kalsky; and grandchildren, Maegan and Sarah Berliner, Michael and Edward Duggan, and Shea, Sean, Kristen and Bernadette Kalsky; as well as many precious and dearly loved nieces and nephews. In 2000, Bernadette made Vestal, New York her home, becoming active in the community as a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and the Vestal Senior Center. She lovingly gave her time as the membership chairperson of the Vestal Senior Center. Bernadette was beloved in the community and touched the lives of all she met. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30AM from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home 765 Main St Vestal, and 10AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church,where a Funeral Mass will be offered.The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM.
