Obituary of Doris Hertzog

Doris Elizabeth Burd Hertzog of Vestal Doris Elizabeth Burd Hertzog, lifelong Vestal resident, passed away on Thursday evening, June 10, 2010 at the Vestal Nursing Center. Formerly of 1256 Glenwood Rd., Doris was the widow of Herbert Archer Hertzog. Born November 5, 1917, Mrs. Hertzog was the daughter of the late Grace (Atwood) Burd and Humphrey Milton Burd who for many years operated Guernsey Dale Dairy Farm on Glenwood Road. She was predeceased by her five siblings: Durward A. Burd, Ruth L. Beach, Eithel M. Johnson, Charlotte A. Lehman and Roger D. Burd. She is survived by her daughter Joan M. McKeeby and husband Raymond of Marietta, Lancaster County PA and four grandchildren: Matthew Scribner McKeeby and wife Joann Harnden, Berlin, NY; David Ira McKeeby and wife Rosemarie, Silver Spring, MD; Elizabeth Atwood McKeeby, Washington, D.C.; Raymond Scribner McKeeby II and fiancee Emily Andrews of West Chester, PA; as well as brothers and sisters in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes especially to thank her nephew, Roger M. Burd and his family for their loving kindness to her, as well as her neighbors Bob and Sandi Pilkington. She was wonderfully cared for by the thoughtful and comforting staff at the Vestal Nursing Center. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Arrangements provided by Coleman and Daniels.
