Obituary of Frederick L Sherman

Frederick Lawrence Sherman | Visit Guest Book Frederick Lawrence Sherman of Binghamton On Sunday, June 27, 2010, Frederick Lawrence Sherman, 85, of Binghamton entered into eternal life at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He is survived by his four daughters, Evelyn and Jorgen Nielsen, Lynette Sherman, Beverly and Michel Whitaker and Kathleen and Philip Hayes; his wife Sandra Oborski; step-son Timothy Stokes; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Sanaeko and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Mary Shutt and Rosalie Brocious; brother Lester Sherman and brothers-in-law Russell Sanaeko and William Shutt. Dad worked for many years at IBM Endicott and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a WWII Veteran and continued to serve his beloved country through many active years with the American Legion Post 89 where he was Commander for seven years, Vice Commander and Adjutant. At the County Level he served as Commander, First Vice Commander, and Chaplin. His proudest accomplishment was holding high office of Sixth District Commander for the American Legion from 2007-2008. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and served as Squadron Commander. He was rewarded with Life Memberships to both Post 89 and Squadron 89. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 300 East Main St., Endicott. Entombment will be in Rivershurst Cemetery, where Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Assn. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Sons of the American Legion Squadron #89, Jensen Rd., Vestal, NY 13850, or to The NYS Vetaran's Oxford Home, Volunteer Guild, 549 Powers Rd., Binghamton, NY, 13903.
