Obituary of Kenneth J. Swartz

Kenneth James Swartz (1919 - 2010) | Visit Guest Book Kenneth James Swartz, 90, of Vestal, died peacefully on October 13, 2010. He was born December 6th, 1919 to Arland and Estelle Swartz of Moscow, PA. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia Swartz; three brothers, Lowell of Sequim, WA, George, Harold and a sister, Dorothy Sparks all of Endicott, NY. He is survived by his son, Kenneth G. Swartz of Jackson Heights, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Norman Townsend; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Kristen Townsend of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Ken will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him, but will be forever remembered in our hearts and prayers. After graduating from Union Endicott High School, class of 1937, Ken proudly served in our country's Army and is a veteran of WW2, serving in both North Africa and Italy. After returning, he went to work for IBM in Endicott for over 30 years and retired as Manager of Accounts Payable. Ken is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1449 and The American Legion Post 82 both of Endicott, NY. He was an avid sportsman that competed in numerous pistol competitions over the years and fished whenever he could. Out of respect for his wishes there will only be a graveside service at Vestal Hills Cemetery on Monday morning October 18th at 10 am. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Endicott.
