Obituary of John M Weil

John M. Weil of Vestal, N.Y. John M. Weil, 94, died peacefully at his Vestal home of fifty-seven years on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Born on April 23, 1914 in New York City where he was raised and educated. Later, he worked at Carnegie Hall before being drafted by the Army. During WWII, John served in the Special Engineering Detachment of the US Army on the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, N.M. He received his BSME from the University of New Mexico in 1949 and his MS in Engineering Technology from SUNY Binghamton in 1973. John worked for IBM Owego for 29 years, and retired in 1980. John was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine. He is survived by his wife, Elena; their six children, Ellen, Gayne and Kuni, Michael and Amy, Richard and Maggie, Robert and Laura, April and Amir; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. Arrangements are by the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal.
