Obituary of Rose Bongiorno

Rose (Rosi) Bongiorno Rose (Rosi) Bongiorno, 96, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2010. She was predeceased by her parents, Maria (Messina) and Damiano Varvaro; brothers, Damiano and Diego Varvaro; and most recently her beloved daughter, Laura Delaney (Laurenza Bongiorno). She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Peter Bongiorno; her only son, Frank (Joan) Bongiorno; her son-in-law, Michael Delaney of Kansas; grandchildren, Misty and Christian (Viola) Bongiorno, Michael (Dianna), Kenneth and Daniel Delaney and Gina (Jason) Rader. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Francesca and Caterina Varvaro; seven great-grandchildren along with scores of nieces and nephews both in the US and in Italy. On January 8, 1949 she married her husband Peter and they immigrated to America in 1951. She worked for Endicott-Johnson before health issues forced her to retire and she became the beloved mother, grandmother and homemaker that we all knew. It was her love that always shined through in her eyes and made her the selfless, compassionate woman that she was. She loved her family and her flowers. Her cooking will be sadly missed and always fondly remembered, but her love will be missed most of all, as she was always forgiving, always caring. The family would like to thank the staff of Tulip Court at Ideal Nursing Home for her care and comfort during the past year. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 12 noon from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until service time at noon.
