Obituary of Marlene Richmond

Marlene Ellen Richmond Of Vestal Marlene Ellen Richmond, 55, of Vestal, was called to heaven Friday, February 18, 2011, at Wilson Hospital after an unexpected illness. She was born in Freeport, Long Island and now has been reunited with her Parents: Dad, Keith D. Richmond; and her Mom, Mary Elizabeth Richmond. She is survived by her loving sister and brother, Arlowene Mary Barton, Vestal, and David Keith Groff, Owego, Several nieces and nephews and close cousins who she adored. Marlene was special to so many people, always giving and helping others. Everyone felt Marlene had a special connection to God. Marlene was happiest spending time with her family at gatherings, vacations, and special events. Marlene was known for telling others she loved them, and always wanted them to write different things down all the time. She loved her brother and said it over and over all the time to everyone, she also loved Black Lake, going up to her camp and spending time at Bar-B-Ques there also riding and fishing on her brothers boat and even drove it. She also loved to go out to eat. Applebee's was her favorite, She was "Daddy's Little Girl!" always loved her dad so much, She was a longtime member of Vestal United Methodist Church, and helped her sister there at the Sunday school. She attended Achieve school for the handicapped during the week and made special friends there. Marlene touched everyone's life that she came in contact with in some way. She is loved and will be missed by all. A burial and committal service will be held at the Redwood Cemetery, Redwood, N.Y., near Black Lake off Rt. 37, in the spring of this year at a date and time to be announced at a later time. A visitation and celebration of Marlene's Life will be held from 10am - 11am followed by a Memorial church service, on Saturday, February 26th 2011 at the United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal, N.Y. 13850, a hot luncheon, with refreshments will be held by the church following the memorial church service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Marlene Richmond may be made to Achieve, 125 Cutler Pond Road, Binghamton, NY 13902. Arrangements are by the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Vestal, NY.
