Obituary of Michael C. Mittelstadt

Michael C. Mittelstadt Of Vestal Michael C. Mittelstadt went to be with Our Lord on March 4th at the age of 78. He was born in Kansas City, MO, to the late Otto and Emma (Mueller) Mittelstadt. He is survived by his loving wife Rosalie (Moschak) Mittelstadt, and children, Karen Langlie (Michael); Wendy Mittelstadt; Michael S. Mittelstadt (Kimberly); Deborah Jones and her children, Nicole, Robert, and Michael; and David Mittelstadt (Kathy), and their children Emma, Anna, and Isabel. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim Mittelstadt, Fr. John Mittelstadt, and Richard Mittelstadt, Dolores Kiefer, and Mary Ellen Finanne (Mike); as well as many nieces and nephews. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed in the United Kingdom. He received his undergraduate degree from Rockhurst College, and completed his PhD in Classical studies at Stanford University. He taught Classical studies at Kalamazoo College in Michigan for several years, before his 32 years as Professor of Classics at Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY. He enjoyed the outdoors, and time spent at the family's lakeside cottage. He was an enthusiast of classic films and a music lover. He was a devoted Husband and Father, and his family will miss him and cherish his memory forever. There will be a memorial service at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make charitable donations to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation .
