Obituary of Charles N Slawta

Charles N. Slawta Of Vestal Charles N Slawta, 84, of Vestal, went peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Felix, Anthony and Joseph; his sister, Margaret; and granddaughter, Jacqueline. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Kathryn; his children, Thomas, Andrew and Nancy, Roger, James and Kathleen, Gene; grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Rebecca, Dawn, Kevin, Rachelle, Kelly, Michael, Patrick and Brian; sister, Marie Donnelly; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Patricia Slawta Jr.; several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy, a retired employee of IBM Glendale, and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. Charles enjoyed sports, music, woodworking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends at Highland Lake. He lived by his motto, "Work hard and good things will happen." Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal and 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Funeral home Wednesday from 2-5 p.m.
