Obituary of Veronica M. Rockefeller
Veronica M. Rockefeller
Of Vestal
. Veronica M. Rockefeller was received into the open arms of her savior on March 11, 2011 in a courageous and valiant struggle with hydrocephalus and complications. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Hazel and William Seltzer; her sister, Virginia Seltzer; brother, William Seltzer Jr. and bother-in-laws, Willard Rockefeller and Jake Cheer. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Rockefeller (Rocky); sister-in-laws, Marjorie Rockefeller and Jean Cheer; sister and brother-in-law, Frank and Joan Rockefeller, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Veronica moved to Los Angeles, California soon after graduating from Union-Endicott High School where she attended the UCLA School of Arts and Humanities. Veronica worked several years for Petersen Publishing Company in Los Angeles before returning to Endicott, New York where she spent many years as the office manager of Federal Electronics. Rocky and Veronica moved to Virginia in 1985 and moved back to Vestal in 1990 where they have lived ever since. Rocky was the love of her life and pampered him constantly in their married life of almost 50 years. Veronica was the most humble, modest, loving and caring person one could ever meet. She cared deeply about people and would not ever say an unkind word. Veronica loved "her Rocky" with everything in her heart and soul, supporting him every step of the way. She never tired of redecorating her home, cooking, planting flowers and keeping the lawn mowed and manicured. Her home was truly her castle. One of her favorite pastimes was to take her four-wheeler for a drive at her farm in Elmira. She was very active and enjoyed craft, painting, hiking and other outdoor activities. Her vivacious spirit and unselfish demeanor made her attractive to everyone she met. Veronica had many loving caregivers including her husband Rocky. Rocky and his family would like to thank Cindy Hartman, Valerie Reed, Danielle Pratt, Amber Hinrichsen, Katie McCarthy, Kristin Frampton, Sally Day, and Sarah Day for the outstanding care and untiring love for Veronica. She was also given exceptional care from Vestal Medical Associates/Lourdes Hospital under the direction of Doctors Rai, McCarville, Capparuccini and Jamil. The doctors made frequent trips to the hospital, were always available for consultation, recommendations for enhanced medical care and added their personal touch in interactions with Veronica.
