Obituary of Betty Lou Oakey

Betty Lou (Hadden) Oakey Of Endicott Betty Lou Oakey (Hadden), 88, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Vestal Nursing Center. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Douglas Oakey, and her brothers, James, John, Willard and Robert, and her sister, Eleanor. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John D. Oakey and Patricia J. (Peacock) Oakey of McMurray, PA; her granddaughters, Jennifer L. Monaco and her husband Steven of Venetia, PA and Dr. Tara Oakey-Kist and her husband Dr. James Kist of Perry, Oh; her great granddaughter, Jessica L. Monaco of Venetia, PA and Briana T. Kist of Perry, OH. Betty was born in Ledgedale, PA on August 13, 1922 and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. She was married to Douglas Oakey in 1942 and moved to Endicott in 1966. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial Services for Betty will be held on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, NY with the Rev. Jose Valencia officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Magnolia Unit of the Vestal Nursing Center, 860 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850 where she received dedicated and loving care for the past 16 years.
