Obituary of Thomas W. Gent

Thomas W. Gent Jr. . Vestal: Thomas W. Gent, Jr. of Vestal, age 85, passed away March 26, 2011. He is predeceased by his wife, Joyce Ellen Gent; and his parents, Cora and Thomas W. Gent, Sr. He is survived by his children, Carol J. Gent, Brian T. Gent and Janice, Brenda M. and Jim C. Morrisey; grandchildren, Jessica and Jon Lurenz, Lisa Morrisey and fianc? Mike Dupree; new great-grandson. Alec Lurenz. He is also survived by his two brothers, Donald H. Gent and family and Edwin C. Gent and family; as well as his close friend, Marcia Pollack. Thomas was a veteran of WWII serving in the 397th Infantry Regiment from 1944 - 1946 and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Thomas was a prominent local attorney who graduated from Syracuse Law School in 1952. He maintained his private practice in Broome County until his retirement in 2000. He was actively involved with numerous associations to better serve our community in so many ways. The family would like to express their appreciation to Riverview Manor Health Care Center for their kindness and care. Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by all those closest to him. The Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Anthony G. Hipes, Pastor of Boulevard United Methodist Church, Binghamton, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
